History

Jan du Preez, the founder and owner, of Namibia Helicopters Services started his flying career in 1986 after obtaining his helicopter private pilot´s license at Rand Airport in South Africa.

He joined the family business doing game capture with a Hughes 300 for the past 23 years. Jan du Preez has an outstanding safety record. With over 7000 hours of flying logged, he is the most experienced helicopter pilot in Namibia and has the ability to carry out any type of work involving a helicopter.

He is well known in Africa for his flying technique doing game capture. He pioneered both giraffe capture using a boma and mature elephant relocation.

The increasing demand for helicopter hire and related services in Namibia, made him realize that this was a service that was urgently needed. This led to the founding of Namibia Helicopter Services in 2007.

Safety

The safety of our clients and pilots is of paramount importance to us. Therefor we have implemented a number of procedures and processes to ensure a safe environment:

  • All helicopters for hire in the fleet is maintained to the highest standard and in accordance with the regulations of the Namibian Department of Civil Aviation.
  • All pilots undergo compulsory annual flight tests, renewal of their licenses and medical examinations.
  • All pilots complete an internally developed helicopter safety programme.

Licence

Namibia Helicopter Services has a Namibian AOC nr:00097 for operations in Namibia.
